(Written after Novaborn: Tale of Inpherna page 69)
Dear Journal,
So, I nearly died!
Let me back up. I overheard Mom and Dad talking about me taking over the council position. Which could not happen! So I decided that I needed to take control of my life and I ran away! I took Mom’s old armor and tonfa-shotguns off the mantle (needed something to protect myself with (Hopefully mom forgives me)).
After sneaking out of the house, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, I made it all the way to morning. Then some boy chased me down and attacked me! He was crazy! He had a scar across his nose and dots tattooed under his eyes. Anyway, just when I thought I had escaped, he shot me in the back! (I mean, I think it was him, couldn’t really see but I think it’s a fair assumption) He missed my heart though, so I showed him! It went right through my family pendant though. I remember the pieces where all across the ground as I blacked out. I wish I had grabbed them… Would have been nice to have a bit of family out here.
After that, I woke up on a ship in SPACE! W̶e̶’̶v̶e̶ I’ve never traveled off planet before! Mom said there wasn’t anything out there that we don’t have on Searadith. Sure Mom. So, waking up on a spaceship, that was crazy. Apparently the crew picked me right off the ground and saved my life. The crew! One is this hyperactive fox girl. I think, to her, I’m now her sister. The captain is this giant Meerka. He’s kind of scary but I think he just doesn’t want to seem like a pushover. I mean, he made a deal with me to join his crew, which is exactly what I wanted! So overall being shot turned out pretty good.
Oh, and there’s t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶b̶o̶y̶ a̶ ̶b̶o̶y̶ a human male who looks to be around my age. He’s on the ship. That’s all there is to say about that. (No further questions!)
Anyways, I agreed to become Novaborn so I could work with them, which is where I am headed right now! I am writing this in my journal on the back of a cart. The driver is a friend of the captain (I don’t know what his species is but he doesn’t seem to want to talk). And it looks like things are going well for me. Well, for the moment at the least.
I planned to sign on with a ship when I left home and it has all worked out. But I can’t help but feel that I’m missing something. It was Anthis’s and my dream to travel the galaxy exploring, but now it’s just me. Family is still at home and I guess they probably think I’m dead. I want to tell them I’m okay, but I don’t know how I would tell them. Plus there’s that boy who tried to kill me.
At first I thought he was trying to rob me, but I think he was actually trying to kill me! Specifically me! I have to figure that out. But before I do any of that I need to repay the debt I owe to the captain. AND to do that I have to survive becoming novaborn. I know I can do it! I’ve been training for this moment my entire life!
There’s so many things to do, but I feel like I could do it all. I feel so free! So ready! My adventure is about to begin!
